Nordisk Film is a leading Nordic entertainment and experience company, focusing on storytelling across various platforms. They are behind award-winning films and series and create world-class computer games, distribute PlayStation in the Nordics and Baltics, and operate a leading Nordic cinema chain. Egmont owns Nordisk Film and brings stories to life.

We were commissioned to update their visual identity. The starting point was an ambition to create a clear and coherent identity, without altering the already updated logo. The soul of Nordisk Film, being storyborn, original, and professional in everything they do, combined with the vast content that defines them, became the centerpiece of the new identity. As the company owns several other companies, it was crucial to create an identity allowing all content to co-exist in one universe.

Everything in the design places storytelling across all media at the center - with big images and videos carrying the communication. We use the same font as the one in the logo, but in a slimmer style, to create coherence and recognition.

The typography is centered, accompanied by big headlines and smaller subheadings, drawing references to end credits and posters from the film world. The colors are nuances of red and blue. The well-known polar bear from the Nordisk Film logo inspires the blue. The palette reflects the cool Nordic heritage, while the red nuances pay tribute to the old buildings in the company’s headquarters in Valby. One of each color is the same as Egmont’s. The connection was a subtle way to pay tribute to the mother company (explore our work for Egmont here).
